BETesporte & Vampeta Promote Responsible Gaming in Brazil

BETesporte has launched an innovative campaign promoting safe gambling habits in collaboration with former Brazilian football star Vampeta. Using humor, nostalgia and star power, the initiative aims to educate players on responsible betting while engaging a wide audience across social media platforms.

Teasing Fans with Nostalgia

The campaign began with Vampeta posting a playful teaser on his official social accounts, hinting at a “second +18 photoshoot.” Fans quickly drew parallels to his famous 1999 G Magazine shoot with Corinthians, a memorable moment in Brazilian sports culture. The teaser’s combination of surprise and nostalgia drove massive engagement, accumulating nearly 800,000 views within days and sparking lively online discussion.

Revealing the Campaign’s Purpose

A few days later, Vampeta unveiled the campaign’s core message through a video produced with BETesporte. Centered on the tagline “Nem tudo é o que parece” (“Not everything is what it seems”), the campaign reminded audiences that under-18s are prohibited from participating in online betting and gaming.

By catching attention with humor and familiar imagery, the campaign conveyed a serious lesson: betting can be entertaining, but only when done responsibly, safely and legally.

BETesporte’s Approach: Balancing Fun with Responsibility

According to Heitor Melo, CMO of BETesporte, the campaign was designed to entertain while also delivering an important public message.

"Our goal was to highlight that first impressions can be misleading. Betting is enjoyable and exciting, but it only remains safe when approached responsibly. Neglecting responsibility transforms fun into risk," Melo explained.

Vampeta’s involvement was deliberate; his status as a cultural icon allowed the campaign to reach a broader audience effectively. Melo noted, "With Vampeta, we communicated a serious lesson in a relatable, engaging, and honest manner."

Vampeta’s Perspective

Vampeta described the campaign as both enjoyable and meaningful. Reflecting on fan reactions to the teaser, he stated:

"Messages poured in immediately after the first post. The key takeaway is clear: gaming is entertaining, but only for adults who play responsibly," he said.

Driving Responsible Gaming Awareness

The BETesporte campaign exemplifies a growing trend in the gaming industry toward enhancing consumer protection and promoting responsible gambling. By combining humor, emotional appeal and a respected sports figure, the initiative successfully balances entertainment with education.

As online gaming continues to expand across Brazil, campaigns like this are crucial for ensuring that gambling remains a safe and enjoyable activity. Through the concept of “things are not always what they seem,” BETesporte and Vampeta reinforced the importance of awareness, prudence and responsible gaming practices.
