DigiPlus Strengthens Operations Amid Regulatory Shifts

Philippine online gaming operator DigiPlus Interactive Corp has signaled confidence in navigating a complex and evolving regulatory landscape. In a press statement issued Monday, the company highlighted recent improvements in its online gross gaming revenue (GGR), attributing growth to strategic resource allocation and efficient operations across its platforms, including BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone.

Reassuring Investors During Market Changes
DigiPlus leadership emphasized the company’s stability despite regulatory developments. Chairman Eusebio Tanco stated that operational performance, regulatory compliance and overall outlook remain on track, reaffirming that the company’s strategy continues to meet market expectations. He stressed that this approach reflects a cautious yet confident stance amid changing conditions.

Adapting to Stricter Oversight
Recent directives from the Philippine central bank requiring the separation of online gaming platforms from e-wallets have presented new challenges. DigiPlus maintains that its operational structure provides a competitive advantage and enables full compliance with these enhanced rules. Management has also intensified self-regulatory practices, including careful review of advertising content to avoid targeting minors or vulnerable groups, aligning with responsible gaming initiatives.

Strengthening Player Protections
DigiPlus has rolled out measures to protect players and enhance customer service. In mid-September, the company launched a surety bond program to safeguard player funds. Additionally, partnerships with Bayad and Pay&Go have expanded payment options, providing alternative transaction methods outside traditional e-wallet linkages.

Expanding into Land-Based Gaming
Beyond digital platforms, DigiPlus is moving into traditional gambling operations. The company recently acquired a majority stake in Hong Kong-listed International Entertainment Corp, gaining control of New Coast Hotel Manila through a subscription of convertible notes. This strategic expansion indicates a broader diversification strategy to balance online operations with physical assets.

Looking Ahead
As regulatory requirements evolve and market dynamics shift, DigiPlus Interactive Corp aims to demonstrate resilience and adaptability. By integrating responsible gaming practices with technological innovation and expanding its operational footprint, the company is positioning itself for sustained growth in the Philippine gaming sector.
