Korean Casinos Deploy AI for Surveillance, Audits
South Korean casino operators are stepping up their adoption of artificial intelligence to strengthen both gaming floor oversight and internal audit functions.
Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL), operator of the foreigner-only Seven Luck casinos, has completed technical verification of its AI-powered “VisionEye” system designed for real-time live table monitoring. Meanwhile, Kangwon Land Inc, which runs the country’s only casino open to local residents, has introduced a machine learning-driven “Smart Audit System” to identify operational risks.
VisionEye Focuses on Live Table Monitoring
Affiliated with the Korea Tourism Organization, GKL developed VisionEye in line with the government’s broader AI strategy. The camera-based solution tracks live table activity in real time, monitoring chip transactions, card handling, odds calculations and overall game progress.
The system is intended to minimise disputes, reinforce fairness and enhance operational transparency. By automating routine surveillance checks, it also allows dealers to concentrate more on customer engagement and table management.
GKL operates Seven Luck casinos in Seoul’s Gangnam district and at Dragon City, as well as in Busan’s port area. The company plans to present a VisionEye prototype at the G2E Asia expo in Macau in May, where it aims to gather industry feedback before exploring commercial opportunities in Southeast Asian markets. In September, GKL established a dedicated AI innovation team to integrate advanced technologies across its operations.
Kangwon Land Deploys Smart Audit System
At the start of the year, Kangwon Land activated its Smart Audit System, which applies machine learning to analyse operational data and flag potential risks. The platform automatically generates audit reports and provides investigative tools designed to streamline compliance processes and improve efficiency.
The initiative follows discussions at an October board meeting that highlighted AI integration as a strategic priority, aligning with national digital transformation policies.
Aligning With National AI Priorities
Both operators are leveraging AI to modernise within South Korea’s tightly regulated casino environment GKL serving international visitors and Kangwon Land catering to domestic players. While VisionEye focuses on front-of-house surveillance, Smart Audit strengthens backend oversight, reflecting a broader shift toward technology-driven controls.
The projects are positioned within South Korea’s national push for AI adoption, with casinos applying advanced analytics to improve transparency, operational efficiency and risk management. Together, the initiatives signal a growing commitment within the country’s gaming sector to embed AI across core business functions.
