Macau Hits Record MOP24B Gaming Revenue in October 2025
Macau posted record-breaking gaming revenue in October 2025, reaching MOP24.09 billion (US$3 billion) the highest monthly total since the pandemic and a 15.9% increase compared to October 2024. The figure also surpasses the previous top monthly revenue of MOP22.16 billion (US$2.77 billion) set in August.
Golden Week Drives Strong Performance
The surge was largely driven by strong demand during the Golden Week holiday period. Despite disruptions from Typhoon Matmo, visitor numbers remained high, with over 1.14 million arrivals recorded between October 1 and 8 averaging around 143,000 per day. The influx of tourists and players fueled a significant spike in gaming activity.
Non-Gaming Efforts Continue to Pay Off
Operators credit part of this growth to expanding non-gaming attractions aimed at enhancing the visitor experience. These initiatives helped draw broader tourist demographics and created more diverse entertainment offerings beyond casino play.
Year-to-Date Growth and Recovery Outlook
From January to October 2025, total GGR reached MOP205.43 billion (US$25.64 billion), up 8% year-on-year. However, this remains 16.7% below the same period in 2019, signaling that Macau’s full recovery is still underway.
Positive Momentum Heading Into Year-End
Analysts expect October’s momentum to extend through Q4, particularly in December, when holiday travel and entertainment events typically boost visitation and spending.
Market Evolution and Resilience
Macau’s rebound underscores its shift toward a more diversified tourism model centered on mass-market gaming supported by entertainment and leisure offerings, rather than relying primarily on VIP play. October’s results highlight the city’s resilience and its ongoing transformation into a broader leisure destination. Operators plan to build on this growth through continued investment in new amenities and customer experiences as recovery progresses.
