Rio Leads Gaming Regulation at G2E 2025 Las Vegas

The Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2025, the world’s premier gaming and betting event, officially opened on Monday, October 6, in Las Vegas. The expo gathered industry leaders, regulators and innovators, setting the stage for global discussions on gaming technology, regulation and responsible growth.

Representing Rio de Janeiro, Loterj’s president Hazenclever Lopes Cançado and vice president Fabíola Esteves highlighted the state’s innovative regulatory model, showcasing how Rio has become a national and regional leader in online gaming and Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) oversight.

Rio Sets a New Standard in Regulated Gaming
As Brazil’s first state lottery to implement a comprehensive regulatory framework for online gaming and VLTs, Loterj is redefining industry standards. This model promotes transparency, responsible play, and technological innovation while boosting state revenue, tourism, and employment opportunities.

At G2E, Cançado and Esteves engaged with global executives, investors and tech providers to explore partnerships, integrate cutting-edge gaming technologies and promote sustainable development within Brazil’s emerging gaming ecosystem.

Innovation Meets Responsible Regulation
Marking its 25th anniversary, G2E ( produced by RX and hosted by the American Gaming Association ) remains the central hub for gaming innovation. The event spotlights new technologies, evolving regulations and strategies for sustainable industry growth.

“G2E shapes the future of global gaming, and Rio de Janeiro played a key role in this conversation,” said Hazenclever Lopes Cançado. “Our approach demonstrates that state-level regulation can balance growth, social responsibility and investor confidence.”

Positioning Rio as a Global Investment Hub
Vice president Fabíola Esteves emphasized that Loterj’s regulatory model is attracting foreign investment, generating jobs and positioning Rio as a leading destination for innovation and responsible gaming. By aligning regulation with international best practices, the city ensures long-term industry growth benefits the wider community.

A Blueprint for Latin America
Loterj’s active participation at G2E 2025 cements Rio de Janeiro as a global reference for regulated gaming. Its model proves that effective oversight can drive economic growth, support tourism, enhance digital innovation and maintain integrity within the gaming sector.

As the industry expands worldwide, Rio serves as a case study for balancing market development, societal responsibility and investor trust establishing the city as a pioneer in Latin America’s regulated gaming future.
