Alea Champions Charity at Portugal Legends Football Match
Legends Charity Game 2025 brought some of football’s biggest names and iGaming leaders together on Monday, 15 September, as Portugal Legends secured a 4–1 victory over World Legends XI.
Organised by Sport Global, the charity match featured global football icons including Kaká, Luís Figo, Alessandro Del Piero, and Pepe. It was supported by major iGaming brands, showcasing the industry’s commitment to social impact.
One of the event’s main sponsors was Alea, whose founder Alex Tomic presented the trophy to the winning Portuguese team.
Shared Values Drive Sponsorship
Alea’s partnership with the Legends Charity Game stemmed from discussions earlier this year between COO Ramon Glieneke and Rasmus Sojmark, CEO of SBC and Sport Global.
“From the very beginning, we knew this was the right fit,” Glieneke said. “The event perfectly aligned with Alea’s values around community, charity and culture.”
Alea has long focused on initiatives that create a lasting impact both inside and outside the iGaming sector. Its core values health, community engagement, and meaningful contribution mirrored the mission of this charity match.
Funds raised went to four major organisations: Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa, International Alert, Caritas Portugal and Ukrainian Red Cross Society.
Extending iGaming’s Reach Beyond Business
This charity event aimed to raise over €1 million, highlighting how the iGaming industry can unite for global causes. By opening the game to the public and broadcasting internationally, the sector showcased its positive influence far beyond gaming.
“We’re a tight community,” Glieneke added. “Events like this let us show how we’re changing perceptions and making a real difference.”
A Trusted Industry Partner
Beyond charitable initiatives, Alea is known for its collaborative business approach. The company doesn’t lock partners into exclusive platforms, focusing instead on tailored solutions.
“Our strength lies in experience,” Glieneke explained. “We identify market challenges early ( like the certification issues in Brazil ) and act proactively. That’s why our clients see us as true partners.”
Legendary Moments on the Pitch
The match delivered five goals, a penalty save, and moments of football nostalgia. Glieneke, a lifelong Inter Milan fan, cheered on stars such as Marco Materazzi, Del Piero, Javier Zanetti, Carles Puyol, Roberto Carlos and Gaizka Mendieta.
“It was a legendary night seeing the players I grew up admiring, all while giving back to Portugal, was unforgettable,” he said.
Linking Football and Business
Reflecting on leadership styles, Glieneke compared his operational approach to a tactical midfielder rather than a flair player.
“I’m more strategic than impulsive,” he noted. “Like a Tiago Mendes, not a Ronaldinho always analysing before taking risks.”
He added that Alea is committed to supporting more social impact initiatives in the future, building on the momentum of this landmark event.
