La Pampa Online Gaming Surpasses Traditional Gambling

Jorge Payeras, General Manager of DAFAS, revealed in an interview with Infopico Radio that online gaming now surpasses all other forms of gambling combined in La Pampa in terms of revenue. He shared insights into the evolving landscape of the province’s gaming sector and the growing role of digital platforms.

Online Gaming Leads Revenue Growth
Payeras noted that online betting has overtaken traditional games such as Quiniela, Quini, Loto, Telekino and Telebingo in revenue collection. “Online gaming has been generating more revenue than all other games together for some time,” he said, emphasizing its transformative impact on player behaviour and provincial finances.

However, Payeras cautioned that illegal online gambling remains a major challenge. Nationally, only around 30% of online gaming activity is officially licensed, leaving the majority operating outside regulatory oversight. “Without comprehensive national legislation, combating unlicensed platforms, many of which are hosted abroad, remains extremely difficult,” he added.

Encouraging Legal Play
The DAFAS chief urged players to use only licensed platforms ending with .bet.ar to ensure safe and regulated betting. He stressed that proper oversight is crucial as online gaming becomes the leading entertainment choice for Argentinians.

Revenue Data Clarified
Addressing recent reports from the Instituto de Seguridad Social (ISS), Payeras said some figures underestimated the true results, particularly those omitting Quiniela Pampeana distributions. Updated calculations indicate that Q2 2025 revenues slightly improved compared to Q1, with ARS 1.709 billion (approx. USD 1.2 million) distributed versus ARS 1.510 billion in the previous quarter. While revenue is still below 2023 levels, Payeras highlighted a modest recovery in 2025.

Blending Tradition and Digital Growth
Despite the rise of online platforms, traditional games maintain loyal followings. Certain numbers remain perennial favourites, including 32, 14, 22, and 48, illustrating the cultural significance of these games. The sector continues to balance technological innovation with long-standing gambling traditions.

Looking Ahead to Year-End Events
Payeras also encouraged participation in the Telebingo Pampeano Extraordinario de Fin de Año on December 28, one of the province’s most popular annual events. As La Pampa’s gaming market continues to digitalize, DAFAS is focused on fostering growth while ensuring responsible play and regulatory compliance.
